When I think of the name of Reptar, I think of the green dinosaur from Rugrats.
Admit it, you watched it.
Four new characters from Athens, GA have since taken over the name with their electro rhythmic sounds. Reptar targets you like prey and bewitches your body to dance until they pull the plug. The quartet released their first full-length album, Body Faucet, just last month. A unique exuberance is clearly present on the album with songs like, ‘Sebastian’, ‘Houseboat Babies’ and ‘Sweet Sipping Soda’, and the beginning notes of ‘Blastoff’ draw you in like a static magnet. It would also be an exhausting challenge to top tracks like ‘Stuck In My Id’, ‘Phonetics’ and ‘Rainbounce.’ Reptar is no stranger to the District, or even the 9:30 Club, as they opened for Foster The People last year (which should be no surprise due to the energetic electro-pop knack of both bands). They take the stage again tomorrow night to blast things off for widely loved indie rockers, Grouplove. Be sure to arrive at the club early so you don’t miss Reptar laying down beats before their set goes extinct for the night.
