NEW ORDER RETURN TO NORTH AMERICA WITH 2013 TOUR DATES
LOS ANGELES - Following their triumphant 2013 return to the U.S. this past weekend at Coachella, NEW ORDER have now announced a run of North American tour dates this summer, in some cases playing cities the band has not visited in many years. The tour kicks off on July 19 in Austin, Texas and culminates with appearances at Chicago’s Lollapalooza and Montreal’s Osheaga festival in early August. Tickets for most dates go on sale later this week.

Muse (@ Verizon Center) the rock powerhouses have returned to complete ma-ma-madness with a new album and hit single, and they’re ready to ignite the Verizon Center with the help of Cage The Elephant. If you remember their very sold out show at GMU Patriot Center a few years back, you know that these are not tickets to wait around on. Don’t miss an electrifying evening in the city with Muse in September!
The Bloody Beetroots the masked dance-punk master returns stateside to bring his brand of dark and edgy electronica to our dance floor. Are you ready?
Honor By August rock and roll born in the District and finally returning (it’s been too long!) to our stage for a Friday night performance that’s sure to be a party. Grab your friends, get your tickets, and celebrate on of the city’s great rock exports.
Blowoff if you don’t know by now, get wise. Prepare to get sweaty when Bob Mould and Richard Morel turn our club OUT for this month’s installment of the popular dance party.
City and Colour YES! The new track release had us super anxious for more, and thank the sweet heavens, we have a tour AND a 9:30 Club date! While his last show was a PACKED sold out house, Dallas didn’t fail to make the performance extremely intimate and moving. Don’t miss out this time!

PREVIEW: The National
Ah, summer 2k13 is just around the corner, which can only mean one thing: it’s Merriweather New Years! And what better embodies a relaxing, liberating summer evening than seeing chill indie rock pioneers the National? If their new songs like ‘Sullivan’ and ‘Prime’ are any indication, their self-produced sixth LP ‘Trouble Will Find Me’ (being released May 21 on 4AD) promises to be another choice record full of tightly wound, rhythmic indie goodness. If you haven’t already fallen in love with these Interpol/Shins contemporaries, take note, because this is one of those rare bands that sounds just as tight live as they do on record. Don’t miss your chance to start off outdoor concert season right. Get your Bloodbuzz on.

SETLIST: Sigur Ros @ GMU Patriot Center 3.24.13

PREVIEW: Sigue Ros @ GMU Patriot Center
If ever there was an utterly unique group in today’s indie arena, it’s Sigur Rós. Around for almost a decade and acting as the only Icelandic band of note,
Sigur Rós have a distinctive sound halfway between ambient dream pop and post-rock. Icelandic lyrics or English lyrics, slowly unfolding ballads or off-kilter wordly pop; take your pick. Their dreamscapes – not songs, but dreamscapes – will fill the Patriot Center to the brim with warm melodies that will provide even the most staunch atheist with something akin to a religious experience. Don’t be that person who didn’t see Sigur Rós when they had the chance.

Morrissey  (@ The National Theatre) oh he’s back. After a completely stunning set at Strathmore, we are lucky enough to host Moz once again! Even better? It will be The National Theatre’s FIRST ever rock show in it’s 175 year history. If this wasn’t already a show to check off your bucket list, think again.
The Postal Service (@ Merriweather) the 10 year anniversary of the hugely successful and stunning, Give Up, The Postal Service are back and bringing along the lovely Jenny Lewis with them! Prepare to fall in love all over again on the 10th anniversary of an album that, let’s be real, was pretty important to a lot of us.
Kegs & Eggs 14 The yearly tradition from Elliot In The Morning that truly proves it’s always 5 o’clock somewhere. Hear sets from some of the station’s favorite bands (Dropkick Murphys, Carbon Leaf to name a few), and kick off your St. Patty’s day festivities!
The Dan Band The band that caused literally everyone you know to fall back in love with the dramatic magic that is “Total Eclipse of The Heart” and a genuinely hilarious (and sensual) performance every year. Can you take all the heat?
Robyn Hitchcock and The Venus 3 an album due out in March from Yep Roc, solid as hell band, support from Peter Buck. Seriously, what more do you want from us? Set that damn alarm and get your ticket!
Tomahawk boasting members from Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Fantomas, The Jesus Lizard and Helmet (DANG! Right?), this band has always been on the cutting edge of experimental hard-hitting rock music. Come see why they are a force to be reckoned with live!
Animal Collective we have graciously lent the magic and wonder of AC live to Merriweather for the past couple seasons, but baby, now they are back in our loving arms. Trippy visuals and sets, fun beats, plenty of dancing. We are already counting down.
Turquoise Jeep  (@ U Street Music Hall) for rhymes as catchy as they are hilarious, the comedic hip-hop group make their triumphant return to U Street Music Hall will certainly be a party you want to get in on.
Youngblood Hawke (@ U Street Music Hall) many of you left our sold out Passion Pit shows as new fans of this band, which is no surprise at all. Their upbeat anthemic indie pop certainly made us instant addicts, and we personally can’t wait to host their headlining gig at U Street Music Hall. Come see what all the fuss is about (SPOILER: it’s about a lot of great, fun music).

Two incredible sold out shows at the GMU Patriot Center. Mumford and Sons blew us away. Check out our photo set on our Facebook page.
